Featured Scout Stories

These are featured stories of current and previous San Diego-Imperial Council Scouts.

Jeremy Sleeter

Jeremy was a member of Troop 866 of Imperial Beach and a former staff member at both Mataguay Scout Ranch and Camp Fiesta Island, where he has served as the health officer. Jeremy completed his Emergency Medical Technician training in the San Diego area before continuing on to Arizona State University where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy with a focus on Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

Juliana Murillo

SDIC Alum and Eagle Scout Juliana Murillo is currently a Senior at Cal Poly Pomona majoring in Political Science. She recently completed an internship with the Panetta Institute for Public Policy in Washington D.C. where she worked as a legislative Intern for Congresswoman and former Cubmaster Katie Porter. She credits her scouting experience with enabling her to make lifelong memories, serve the Scouting community across the country, and developing her passion for public service. Upon graduation she aspires to attend Law School.

Aliénor Alexander

"In scouting, I learned leadership, preparedness, professional and networking skills, as well as communication and perseverance. All of these have helped me make it into and through college, as well as helped me gain an internship at Casa Cornelia, a pro bono law firm that represents people seeking asylum in the US. Without scouting, I would be much less confident, and less prepared for all of the challenges that life had thrown at me."

Eden Tillotson

Currently a student at UCSD studying human biology on a premed track, Eden is also an RA and student researcher at the Madigan Lab where she assists with research into diseases such as leprosy. She credits the first aid skills she learned in Scouting with empowering her with the skills to respond to emergency situations and inspiring her love of medicine which she hopes to pursue as a career.
