Lending a Helping Hand
Our thoughts and prayers are with those suffering through the tragic fires sweeping across Los Angeles. As Scouts we instinctively want to help guided by the Scout Oath and Law. We’ve listed below what we know today as assistance action plans that are being organized. An updated message will be sent as we know more staying in close communication with LA Scouting and National Scouting Leadership.
National Office: The National Service Center is creating an Emergency Assistance Fund. We’ll share information on that fund as soon as it’s published.
Greater Los Angeles Council: The Los Angeles Council has posted information on ways we can help. Information can be found on this webpage: https://tinyurl.com/bd5vhep9
Western Los Angeles County Council: In addition to hundreds of families losing their homes in the fire, historic Camp Josepho has been destroyed. You can learn more on this webpage: https://bsa-la.org/camp-josepho-destroyed-in-wildfire/
San Diego-Imperial Council: In addition to sharing larger assistance action plans organized Nationally or in Los Angeles, you may know of a particular need. To connect the San Diego Scouting Community to that need please send an email to sdiccommunications@scouting.org and we will organize the information sharing it through our communication channels
The Scout Law calls us to be helpful, brave and reverent during difficult times. Thank you for leading the way as Scouts and Scouters and for responding to this crisis and making a positive difference!
More to come as we learn more.
